The El Paso Police Department’s Gang Unit arrested a man wanted on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and referred eight people taken into custody during the investigation to Homeland Security as possibly being part of human trafficking.

Police said officers were surveilling a home in the 3100 block of Hamilton and saw a man wanted on suspicion of an aggravated assault walk in and out of a house armed with a rifle.

Homeland Security responded to assist with an investigation into possible human trafficking.Police located the wanted man, identified as 20-year-old Edwin Rodriguez, at the home under surveillance and the weapon believed to be used in the aggravated assault he is suspected of.

Rodriguez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $100,000 bond.
